Why do leather sofas get moldy?

Time : 2024-11-29

Environmental conditions for leather sofas to get moldy:

Leather products are often seriously affected by the growth of mold and yeast in humid environments, animal dirt and high temperatures. The growth of mold on leather will cause the leather to lose its luster at the least, and the enzymes secreted by the mold will corrode the leather fibers, causing the grain to crack and rot, reducing the physical and mechanical properties of the leather and shortening the service life of leather products.

Countermeasures to prevent leather sofas from getting moldy:

Since humidity is an important condition for leather to get moldy, and animal dirt (mostly human sweat dirt) and high temperatures are also important conditions for getting moldy, leather products should be placed in a dry environment. Frequently used leather sofas will not get moldy even in a humid environment if they are maintained with natural leather nourishing cream.
