glove box vacuum chamber

A glove box vacuum chamber is a key piece of station equipment which creates an anaerobic and anhydrous worksite for handling materials that are sensitive to oxidation and hydration. The unit is an airtight room complete with its own glove ports, allowing handlers to conduct their operations in a different environment. ColdFETs are employed in Ultra-low pressure (usually under vacuum) chambers maintaining high quality gas (pumped down and using N2 or Ar gas) and a clean, non-contaminated environment. These are also most commonly used for applications that require isolation from atmosphere — such as semiconductor manufacturing, material sciences, and chemical research.

Advantages of glove box vacuum chambers include the capability of generating and maintaining an inert atmosphere — a necessity for moisture- and oxygen-sensitive reactions. They provide a high degree of safety by containing hazardous materials from the environment and personnel. A vacuum system allows better control of the internal environment to remove traces of contaminants. Additionally, the chambers can be tailored to particular experimental requirements and are frequently equipped with vacuum gauges and gas purification systems to finely tune the internal atmosphere. How Materials and Equipment Are Passed In and Out of the Vacuum Chamber Design also builds provision into the vacuum chamber to transfer materials and equipment in and out of the isolated environment without breaching the controlled conditions.

Inert Atmosphere Control

Inert Atmosphere Control

Inert atmosphere can be achieved by purging the glove box with an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon which prevents exposure of the samples to moisture and oxygen. This is especially advantageous for experiments requiring reactive or air-sensitive materials which could be worsened by contact with an atmosphere.

Reinforced Panels: These are solid work of operating with dangerous components. Additionally, the vacuum system, in conjunction with the glove ports, guarantees that all materials are ever confined making the risk of cross-contamination to researchers and the surrounding environment minimal.
